Reel FX’s latest animated film, The Book of Life, opened in 3rd place over the past weekend. The film (which features the voices of many stars such as Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, and Channing Tatum) grossed $17 million, which to my surprise was much less than what I thought it’d gross. But, it’s still early.
Did you see it? Did you like it? If you didn’t see it, do you plan to?
I definitely want to see it, although I’ll wait for it to come to DVD. I just can’t get over the fact that this colorful and creative film came from the same studios that made Free Birds!
The Animation Commendation 
It is still shocking that the company that made this made Free Birds. I will see it in about a month or so. I heard it is good, but not great or excellent.

Animat gave it a good review, so I might give it a shot at one point. But I am not really into Halloween, so it might take some time

Are there any American non-religious holidays that elicit any sort of celebration in Germany?
Oh, Germans have starting to celebrate Halloween (too much influence from the American media). I am just not into it.
Let’s see…We celebrate New Year with fireworks, Carnival, Eastern (but mostly private, no parades or something like it), theoretical the German unification (that’s simply a free day, though), some like to do Halloween (it goes a little bit contrary with the old German tradition to use it as a day to meditate and think of the death), then we have St. Martin, St. Nicolas day and finally Christmas. Thanksgiving is a holiday, but we don’t celebrate it the way the Americans do.
Oh, cool!
It’s about Day of the Dead not Halloween which is a holiday about remembering ancestors in Mexico.
I had never even heard of this movie until recently! I will probably wait until it is out on DVD before seeing it.
Hmm…that’s interesting. There was a lot of promotion for the film, at least on social media, I know.
But yeah, I’m waiting for DVD as well.
Don’t wait till DVD. At least see on bluray so you get the HD animation.
Will probably go see it and Boxtrolls this weekend. We will see.

I saw it and it is very good. I had some issues with the voice casting, music and the overly complicated plot, but the visuals make up for it. I really think you should see it in the theaters, 3d if possible to get its full effect. If not definitely on bluray so you can see it in HD. The visuals are what make the movie special. Also the mesaage of remembering our ancestors was nice

This just had to be released on my finals week. *sighs* I’ve heard some good things about it, though, so I’ll probably rent it.
By the way, Big Hero 6 has had 7 reviews so far on Rotten Tomatoes and they’re all extremely positive!
