Disney’s “Planes” Is Cleared For a Theatrical Release

Disney Toon Studios’ “Planes”, originally meant as a direct-to-DVD release, has been allowed a theatrical release on August 9, 2013. The CGI film takes place in the world of Pixar’s “Cars” franchise, but instead focuses on the vehicles of the air! Current attached voices include Jon Cryer, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, and Carlos Alazraqui.

  1. I think this just makes everything really confusing for people who don’t follow Pixar and Disney like we do. The planes look JUST like the life of Cars which is Pixar but now it’s entirely owned by Disney? I don’t like it. Nope. Not one bit.

    1. True! The average person doesn’t know what counts as the Disney canon and what doesn’t! Now to have a Pixar anomaly involved in this battle..it does get confusing!

  2. This sounds completely silly. At least the animation looks up to par, and the kids will probably love it

    1. I ain’t too thrilled about it either. I think I’d have loved it better if it were a direct-to-DVD movie, but now that it’s a theatrical release, I feel that I have to have “higher expectations” for it.
