Well, it’s happened! Disney’s “Frozen”, recently grossing over a billion dollars, has broken a new record by surpassing “Toy Story 3” as the highest-grossing animated film of all time!

The Animation Commendation 
Which again proves that box office success has not that much to do with quality…*sigh*…oh well, at least Disney finally got the attention they deserved four half a decade already.
Just look at “Alice in Wonderland”. I still can’t figure out how the heck that made over a billion dollars!

Exactly. I am first off shocked that this film is still in theaters (probably why the 2014 films are not doing so hot right now), but the world let THIS FILM beat out Toy Story 3? At least WDAS is finally getting attention (though it is for the WRONG film).
It could be a worse film making money.

We seriously let this happen; our world seriously let this happen. I have never witnessed such an overrated animated film in my life. I have made some comments about the Lion King (which I so somewhat take back) and Toy Story, but…..wow. This is a truly sad day for me.
A film that fakes having depth, and is glitzy and glimmery with unoriginal characters beats out something that is memorable and heart pulling like Toy Story 3. I am glad I spent my money to watch the latter in theaters instead of the former.
I too saw “Toy Story 3” in the theaters and not this. I can’t imagine what future animated film will surpass “Frozen” now in terms of gross.
Let’s just hope it is a more than a “good at best” film. I actually cried at Toy Story 3, which almost never happens when I watch a movie (and it was not because of nostalgia).
Well, highest grossing does not equal ‘best’. If it makes you feel better, Toy Story 3 still has much higher ratings than Frozen. Hey, at least it’s not Despicable Me 2 (which came pretty close).

How do you fake having depth?
Maybe not fake having depth, but I mean that the way that the film is executed, you can tell that we are supposed to see so much in a character or a storyline, but the writing does not support what we are supposed to be seeing, or support the idea of a character or a storyline having depth and many layers to it.
Apparently I’m going against the grain by saying, I enjoyed it.
I like that
A- there was no male to rescue the damsels! They saved themselves and for any young female that is a great message
B- I liked the musical feel of it. Broadway and theater are great to introduce to young minds.
I actually, on occasion, pop into coworkers’ offices and sing “do you want to build a snowman?…”
It’s fun and makes people smile and smiling is good for the soul!
I liked the film too, but don’t love it. And yes, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” is a great song to make one smile!

To be fair, a lot of Disney heroines didn’t need a man to save them. Everyone glosses over the fact that Ariel reversed this trope by saving Eric’s life twice!
I misspoke there, I guess it was more of the “happily ever after” with the man and princess in hand I was getting at
