Lyricist Richard M. Sherman Dies at 95

Lyricist Richard M. Sherman has sadly passed away at the age of 95. Mr. Sherman (1928-2024) along with his brother, Robert, composed and wrote the songs for a plethora of Disney projects.

These included animated films (such as The Jungle Book and The Aristocats) to live-action films (such as Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks) to theme park attractions (such as It’s a Small World and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress).

The prolific duo even did songs for non-Disney films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Snoopy, Come Home, Tom Sawyer, Charlotte’s Web, The Slipper and the Rose, and Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed!

  1. I’m glad he got to be a part of “Once Upon a Studio” last year; he and Burny can be at peace now with Walt and Robert Sherman. What an incredible age, he certainly had an impressive life!
