Lyricist Richard M. Sherman has sadly passed away at the age of 95. Mr. Sherman (1928-2024) along with his brother, Robert, composed and wrote the songs for a plethora of Disney projects.
These included animated films (such as The Jungle Book and The Aristocats) to live-action films (such as Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks) to theme park attractions (such as It’s a Small World and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress).
The prolific duo even did songs for non-Disney films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Snoopy, Come Home, Tom Sawyer, Charlotte’s Web, The Slipper and the Rose, and Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed!

This is my favorite Sherman Bros song (at least on this particular day and does not involve a bear of very little brains).
While I’m not fond of that particular song, I do enjoy many of the Charlotte’s Web songs that the Sherman Brothers did.
I’m glad he got to be a part of “Once Upon a Studio” last year; he and Burny can be at peace now with Walt and Robert Sherman. What an incredible age, he certainly had an impressive life!
An impressive life indeed.
