My Thoughts: SCROOGE: A CHRISTMAS CAROL (2022)

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is a story that I enjoy very much and I like to check out as many adaptations of it as I can and oh boy, there are a lot! There are silent versions, live-action versions, animated versions, musical versions, etc. One of my favorite adaptations is the live-action 1970 musical film, Scrooge, starring Albert Finney as the stingy, curmudgeonly Ebenezer Scrooge.

I thought the songs (by Leslie Bricusse) were mostly well-written, the acting was wonderful, and the overall film was delightful. I was surprised to discover that an animated remake of the film would be coming to Netflix entitled Scrooge: A Christmas Carol.

What did I think of this animated remake directed by Stephen Donnelly? Read on to find out!

Actor Albert Finney Dies at 82!

The English actor, Albert Finney, has sadly passed away at the age of 82! Mr. Finney (1936-2019) was most famous for his roles in Tom Jones, Scrooge, Annie, Big Fish, Skyfall, and my favorite performance of his in one of my favorite films, Murder on the Orient Express!

In terms of animation, he voiced the character of Mr. Everglot in Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride.

He shall be missed!

Well, it’s Disney’s 26th animated feature, “The Great Mouse Detective”¬†or as it’s sometimes been known, “The Adventures of the Great Mouse Detective” (which is kinda misleading, since the movie is really only about one particular adventure of the great mouse detective)! Regardless, let’s take a look at this movie! Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #26: Mrs. Judson”
