Hello all, once again, it’s that time of year when the Oscars are only a week away and many film fanatics make their predictions about who will win. And I’m no exception, although I haven’t been all that successful. My record so far is 9 correct (out of like 30), and 30% ain’t bad, right?
So below you’ll find the list of the nominees as well as my predicted winners. The nominees that I think SHOULD win will be in red, the nominees that I think WILL win will be in blue, and if they’re the same, they’ll be both RED AND BLUE.
One last thing, I always leave the “Top 6” categories (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Animated Feature) for the end.
Hope you enjoy reading this and let me know in the comments whether or not you agree with me!

What is so great about Feral? Get a Horse is very impressive, I have a hard time to believe that something better was produced last year.
Still wonder if “The Wind Rises” will snatch away the award from Frozen…but then, it’s Disney’s turn.
I just think the artistic style of “Feral” is a bit more creative than “Get a Horse!” which basically just copies artistic styles from the early Disney shorts albeit maybe with the use of a computer, now. I haven’t seen either though.
Yeah, “The Wind Rises” seems to be the biggest (if not only; I’m not sure about “Ernest and Celestine”) competition to “Frozen”.
Get a horse is a little bit more than that….but I would spoil it for you. I just recommend watching it.
Yeah, I’m sure if/when I watch them, my opinions might change.
I wouldn’t even care if The Wind Rises snatches it from Frozen, which I feel like it is not the best of this year, but it is the best of the ones nominated (that I watched).
Which one do you think is the best?
I’m okay with Frozen winning (keep in mind though that I haven’t seen The Wind Rises), but mostly because this was a really, really bad year. I think it really deserves the award for “Let it go” though
I have not watched The Wind Rises yet (is not released in Canada until this year). I just simply don’t care about the Oscars right now.
I look forward to seeing how your predictions compare to what is actually chosen although I think the best part of the show may be what Ellen DeGeneres does …
This is Ellen’s 2nd time hosting too!
Good list! I’m glad that I’m not the only one still blaming Meryl! Lots in common between our lists.
Yeah, I’m surprised…I feel like a professional guesser now 😀 !
I haven’t seen many films with Meryl Streep (I think only 2-3), so I don’t really hold her in a very high standard as everyone else, but her anti-Disney speech did indeed drop her a lot from what I thought of her.
Hah! I’m far from a pro with Oscar predictions, as my record will attest. As for Streep, I’ve seen a lot of her films and she really is a great actress, but her speech was so petty and self-serving that I’ve lost a lot of the respect I used to have for her.
I hated how Emma Thompson was snubbed for an Oscar nomination too!! But, I think Cate Blanchett might take home the Oscar, although Meryl was amazing in “August:Osage County.” The woman just gets better with age, there’s no denying that. Truthfully, I would love to see Amy Adams win for “American Hustle, but I doubt that will happen.
Yeah, poor Emma Thompson!
Yeah, Cate Blanchett is quite a viable winner. Though, I don’t think Amy Adams will win in her category.
Thanks for commenting!
So you’ve seen “Frozen” at this point? If so, where would you place it among your favorites?
Yes I’ve seen it…but I really don’t know my opinion on it; I need to see it once more to fully cement my thoughts on it.
I didn’t really care for American Hustle. I thought August: Osage County was more interesting to be honest!
I haven’t seen either, to be honest, lol!
Read them 😀 We will see. We will see. I didn’t know anything happened between Meryl and Emma. I am going to look that up now…but I love Meryl, so that makes me very sad.
~SAT
It’s not so much between Meryl and Emma, but Meryl Streep made an “anti-Walt Disney” speech, I think the day before the final day of voting. And I personally feel that affected people not to put more votes in for the film, “Saving Mr. Banks” including putting less votes in for Emma Thompson as Best Actress, when everyone pretty much thought she had a given spot in the nominees!
