Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #55: Dr. Madge Honey Badger

Today, we take a look through the 2016 Disney Canon film, Zootopia, to find our forgotten/minor character. For more about the film and my thoughts on it, click here.

Our forgotten/minor character, Dr. Madge Honey Badger, shows up near the middle of the movie when Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde come across a foreboding facility (known as Cliffside Asylum) guarded by wolf guards.

When the full moon is out, wolves be wolves!

The facility turns out to be where all the missing mammals that have gone “savage” are being kept. As nobody knows how or why these mammals are going savage, they’re being monitored and studied on the down-low by doctors under the order of Mayor Lionheart.

When your mayor lion roars at you, you listen!

The main doctor seems to be Dr. Madge Honey Badger, voiced by Katie Lowes. Her very existence has me wondering many things. Like, how was she selected for this secretive job as well as how did she manage to keep it a secret all this time?

“All the other badgers are asleep when I work.”

She’s later arrested with Mayor Lionheart, but I wonder does she deserve to be arrested? Wasn’t she doing a good thing keeping the “savage” mammals contained whilst trying to figure out how or why they’ve gone “savage”?

Sometimes ups outnumber the downs….not in Zootopia!

We never see the character again (at least I don’t think we do), so what happened to her family and friends? Do they feel proud of her for what she’s done or are they ashamed?

“They’ve all probably gone savage now as well!”

Dr. Madge Honey Badger is one of those characters that you just wish you knew more about!

  1. Good choice! I figured you’d pick one of Giselle’s bodyguards or something. This was thinking outside the box

  2. I always assumed she was exonerated along with the Mayor when it was proven that they didn’t CAUSE the other predators to go savage and that it was actually Assistant Mayor Bellweather.
