It’s that time of year again: Oscars season! Like usual, I’ll be making my predictions for which 2016 films I think will win which award. The ones that I think SHOULD win will be colored RED and the ones that I think WILL win will be colored BLUE. If they happen to be the same, then I’ll color them BOTH COLORS! Like usual, I’ll leave the top 6 awards (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Animated Feature) for the end.

Well, that’s all for now! Just gotta wait and see how many I get right! What do you think of my predictions? What are some of your predictions? Let me know in the comments below!
I didnt realize you were so high on La La Land. It was good but I definitely wouldn’t pick it for many of those as my should win. Interesting picks. I’m hoping there are some surprises
Thanks for reading! There were just some awards that I feel it should win: Best Score, Best Cinematography, etc. Others were they were the best of the bunch. I feel Emma Stone’s performance seems to be the best out of the others (I really have some issues w/Portman’s portrayal), that’s why I said she should win, not because of the film but it seemed better than the other 4.
I guess I too was surprised by how many “shoulds” I gave La La Land. I think despite not being in love with the film, the film did enough to leave an impression in every aspect: cinematography, colors and costumes, music, acting, story, etc. Although some of those impressions aren’t positive ones.
Arrival seems to be my fave live-action film of the year so far.
Great pics! Great format in your article, too. Excited for Oscar night. Wish I knew of some cool contests as well. I am going to put my pics in the online Oscar Challenge at http://challenge.oscar.com/ballot.
I’d do that too, but I don’t have a FB account.
And I’m cheering for LA LA LAND in most major categories, too. 🙂
It’s not my favorite film, but I can see it winning most awards.
*picks 🙂
La la land was good but it’s become too over hyped which ruins the novelty.
You think ‘Zootopia’ will win best animated? Zootopia and Moana are the two I think it could be between and I loved both but Zootopia didn’t scream OSCARS like Moana did 😁.
I agree with Arrival for Best Movie as that was mind blowing.
And, as always, I am rooting for the Pixar short for best animated short! This year: the beautiful, PIPER! ❤
Yeah, La La Land is definitely overrated, but it’s still a good film, in my opinion.
Moana was my fave animated film of the year, but the winner will most likely be between Zootopia and Kubo as those were the two films that have won in that category in other awards like Golden Globes, Baftas, and Annies. I just feel Zootopia has the edge over Kubo.
I’m not that found of Piper, tbh, and really prefer Borrowed Time! But, I feel the academy members will just vote for Pixar.
I rewatched Zootopia today and I obviously forgot how amazing it was as I was really surprised at how much I loved it.
The day I went to go see it was the day after a long long week so I might have been tired and not enjoyed it as much as I did the second time round.
Going to be tight between Moana and Zootopia. Both are worthy winners 😁
I would love Moana to win, but I’m sure it’s not going to as most of the other film awards have given the prize to either Zootopia or Kubo.
I havta see Zootopia again sometime.
I really recommend you to watch this video, if you haven’t already: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ou7x9sjl_fM
It uses statistics from last year’s award shows and it comes to the conclusion that the critic small awards are a LOT better at predicting Oscar winners then main award shows (golden globes etc).
I recommend watching it – I really enjoyed it 😁
Thanks! Since last year I’ve been using the small awards to predict the winners too not just the main ones and I think that’s why I had my best prediction score ever last year, lol!
I’m probably going to watch La La Land tonight, though everything about it seems like a ploy to me.
I would like Kubo to win, but it’s clear Zootopia will win.
Kubo could still pull it off; it won the BAFTA award.
I don’t dislike La La Land at all, but I do feel it is overrated.
We’re watching and I have no idea this year since I’m behind on watching movies >_<. Your list gives me an idea hehe.
It’s an interesting year. You should at least check out La La Land just to see what all the hype is about.
Yea, I will iA. Is La la Land overrated in your opinion?
Eh…not all that much. It’s a good movie, but it’s not an amazing movie. There is some overpraising of it, but there’s also a lot of overhating of it.
Ah ah! I knew it was just alright. I’ll watch it nonetheless. Thx!
