My 89th Academy Awards Predictions!

oscars-2017-89thacademyawards

It’s that time of year again: Oscars season! Like usual, I’ll be making my predictions for which 2016 films I think will win which award. The ones that I think SHOULD win will be colored RED and the ones that I think WILL win will be colored BLUE. If they happen to be the same, then I’ll color them BOTH COLORS! 1. I didnt realize you were so high on La La Land. It was good but I definitely wouldn’t pick it for many of those as my should win. Interesting picks. I’m hoping there are some surprises

    1. Thanks for reading! There were just some awards that I feel it should win: Best Score, Best Cinematography, etc. Others were they were the best of the bunch. I feel Emma Stone’s performance seems to be the best out of the others (I really have some issues w/Portman’s portrayal), that’s why I said she should win, not because of the film but it seemed better than the other 4.

I guess I too was surprised by how many “shoulds” I gave La La Land. I think despite not being in love with the film, the film did enough to leave an impression in every aspect: cinematography, colors and costumes, music, acting, story, etc. Although some of those impressions aren’t positive ones.

Arrival seems to be my fave live-action film of the year so far.

  2. La la land was good but it’s become too over hyped which ruins the novelty.
You think ‘Zootopia’ will win best animated? Zootopia and Moana are the two I think it could be between and I loved both but Zootopia didn’t scream OSCARS like Moana did 😁.
I agree with Arrival for Best Movie as that was mind blowing.
And, as always, I am rooting for the Pixar short for best animated short! This year: the beautiful, PIPER! ❤

    1. Yeah, La La Land is definitely overrated, but it’s still a good film, in my opinion.

Moana was my fave animated film of the year, but the winner will most likely be between Zootopia and Kubo as those were the two films that have won in that category in other awards like Golden Globes, Baftas, and Annies. I just feel Zootopia has the edge over Kubo.

I’m not that found of Piper, tbh, and really prefer Borrowed Time! But, I feel the academy members will just vote for Pixar.

      1. I rewatched Zootopia today and I obviously forgot how amazing it was as I was really surprised at how much I loved it.
The day I went to go see it was the day after a long long week so I might have been tired and not enjoyed it as much as I did the second time round.
Going to be tight between Moana and Zootopia. Both are worthy winners 😁

      2. I really recommend you to watch this video, if you haven’t already: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ou7x9sjl_fM

It uses statistics from last year’s award shows and it comes to the conclusion that the critic small awards are a LOT better at predicting Oscar winners then main award shows (golden globes etc).
I recommend watching it – I really enjoyed it 😁

  3. I’m probably going to watch La La Land tonight, though everything about it seems like a ploy to me.

I would like Kubo to win, but it’s clear Zootopia will win.
