The first Top 13 list I did for this blog was actually about my favorite animated Disney Canon films. It was one of my most popular posts, if not my most popular post on this blog! However, that was 11 years ago and with all the films added to the Canon since then, I feel it’s time for a new list!
So sit back and relax for my updated Top 13 Favorite Animated Disney (Canon) Films list!
This film intrigued me ever since I heard about it and the glowing reviews it got. Beauty and the Beast meets Ready Player One? Count me in! Read on to read my thoughts!
The actress, Angela Lansbury, has sadly passed away at the age of 96. I wrote a small announcement of her passing on the Rotoscopers website. Click here to view it.
In sad news today, actor David Ogden Stiers, has passed away at the age of 75! Mr. Stiers (1942-2018) was known for his role in the TV series, M*A*S*H, as well as for his voice performances in multiple films including:
Beauty and the Beast as Cogsworth,
Pocahontas as General Ratcliffe,
Lilo & Stitch as Dr. Jumba,
and The Hunchback of Notre Dame as the Archdeacon.
Once again, it’s Oscars season! Listed below are my predictions for the winners of this year’s 90th Academy Awards ceremony! Like usual, I leave the top 6 awards for the end (Best Animated Feature, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Picture). The nominees that I think SHOULD win will be in red,the nominees that I think WILL win will be in blue, and if they’re the same, they will be both red and blue. Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments below!
As everyone knows, Disney has recently been involved in a policy where they are making live-action remakes of their animated films. They’ve released Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, and Cinderella. Each of them have been HUGE financial successes!
Now, there are 8 more live-action remakes in the production: Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, Cruella, and Pinocchio.
I, for one, am so sick and tired of this trend! I really disliked Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent! (I haven’t seen Cinderella yet.) And I think Dumbo and Winnie the Pooh are just stupid and/or bizarre ideas to make into live-action remakes!
I personally just want Disney to leave their animated classics alone and work on more original ideas. But, I’d like to know what you all think. So please tell me in the comments how you feel about this recent Disney trend.
Wow, I can’t believe that I’ve done 30 of these already!
I should throw myself a party! How pathetic would that be?
We are still in the Disney Renaissance and are taking a look at arguably, the best film in the Disney Renaissance. This film was a massive hit, both critically and commercially! This film received a standing ovation at the New York Film Festival! This film was the first animated film to be nominated for the “Best Picture” award at the Oscars! This film is my favorite animated Disney Canon film! This film is my favorite animated Disney film! This film is my favorite Disney film! This film is my favorite animated film! And this film is one of my favorite films in general!
Well, due to the popularity of my last “Top 13” list, I decided to make another one! And today’s post takes a dive into an aspect of Disney’s animated films that is loved by everyone: its songs!
The vast majority of the Disney Canon films are musicals, or at least feature a song or two. And the magic of Disney along with the magic of many of Disney’s songwriters including the Sherman Brothers,
“We’re awesome!”
Alan Menken and Howard Ashman,
“We’re…second….awesome!”
and many others whose names are relatively unknown to the majority of the world, make these songs enjoyable, cherished, and memorable to us all!
So the question is, “Which of the songs are my favorites?”. To find that out, I went through all the songs of the Disney Canon films and picked out the ones that I really loved…all 40 of them!
Yeah, then came the nigh impossible challenge of shortening that “shortlist” to 13! (This was soooo much harder than figuring out my top 13 favorite animated Disney canon films)! So if you don’t see your favorite Disney song on here, don’t be mad! It most likely was in my shortlist to begin with and didn’t make my top 13!
Well folks, it’s about time that I open up my latest section of this blog: my “Top 13” Lists! Face it, we all love lists and love reading other people’s opinions, and I’m no exception. So I thought to myself that I should start making a few lists and hopefully some people would be interested in reading them!
I’m stuck reading this, aren’t I?
So I went ahead and decided my first list to be, “My Top 13 Favorite Animated Disney (Canon) Films”! It seemed an appropriate list to start with seeing as I’m already doing a project involving the Disney Canon. Maybe some of you were curious as to which films are my personal favorite?
“Simply, (yawns)…Ecstatic!”
After looking through the list of the Disney Canon films and after much painstaking editing and re-arranging (I never realized how hard ranking things can be! To those of you who make lists often, I tip my hat to you!),
“Darn, I can’t make the joke about the hat being the fastest piece of clothing because it goes on a head!”
I’m ready to share the results with you all!
Note: I personally find one’s favorites and preferences can vary over time, minutely, if not majorly! So keep in mind that as of January 2013, this is my list! Maybe when I look back at this list in the future, I’ll wonder why my #6 film was not #12? Or why my #10 film was not my #3? Or why my #7 film was even on the list to begin with?
Also, I have not seen “Wreck-It Ralph” yet, but I have seen all the other films in the Disney Canon! Hopefully, I don’t love “Wreck-It Ralph” so much that it affects my top 13! Oh, you’re probably wondering to yourself, “Why top 13?” Well, it’s because I’m not superstitious!
