Yes! We’re finally at Disney’s last package film and probably my personal favorite amongst them! Applause, people, applause!
Released in 1949, we have Disney’s 11th feature, “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”! The film is similar to “Fun and Fancy Free” in the fact that it only consists of 2 segments: “The Wind and the Willows” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. Well, let’s start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Scooby-Doo and its franchise! I love the original TV series, I love most of the other TV series that followed it and are still following it, and I love the direct-to-DVD films. (What do I think of the live-action films? Well, I prefer the Brian Levant TV duology over the Raja Gosnell theatrical duology; but that’s not really saying much for either of them.)
And the focus of today’s review is one of the newer direct-to-DVD movies, “Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire”! Now if you’re like me, the first thing that comes to your mind is, “HEY! Wait a minute! They already made a direct-to-DVD Scooby-Doo film involving a vampire, ‘Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire’! Firstly, I want to apologize for not being as active on the blog as I used to be. I had final exams in college; but now they are done! So, I plan to spend more time on this blog working on this project and some other projects that I plan to do. So for now, let’s continue down our Forgotten/Minor Characters Project.
Next up is Disney’s 10th animated feature and 5th package film, “Melody Time”. Released in 1948, “Melody Time” is basically the exact same thing as “Make Mine Music” except with different shorts; so I won’t get into much detail explaining what it is. Let me just get it out there: I’m not a fan of Don Bluth and his films! None of his films ever captivated me like how a Disney film would and I consider some of his films to be quite bores. Next up is Disney’s 8th feature and 3rd package film, “Make Mine Music”. Released in 1946, the film is somewhat like “Fantasia” in that it’s a collection of unrelated shorts set to music. This time, most of the music is actually lyrical and popular (for the time, at least). And like I’ve said before, I actually prefer this film over “Fantasia”.

Australian actress Cate Blanchett is apparently in talks to portray the evil stepmother in the Disney live-action reboot of “Cinderella.” Yes, Disney’s planning a live-action reboot of the classic 1950 film in the same manner as “Alice in Wonderland” and their upcoming “Maleficent.” The script is apparently being written by Chris Weitz.
Personally, I’m not a fan of re-imagining these animated masterpieces as live-action. I’m not saying that they’re bad; but if I had my way, I’d let Disney come up with new ideas for live-action films instead of feeding off their old hits of a different medium. Anyway, what do you think of this upcoming “Cinderella” reboot and what would your ideal casting be for it?
