My Thoughts: A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK (1994)

Trollcentralpark

Yes, it’s Don Bluth time again! So let me just open up by saying that I think this is one of the WORST animated films I’ve ever seen. It’s not that far from “Doogal” on my list. With that compelling introduction out of the way, let’s proceed. Continue reading “My Thoughts: A TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK (1994)”

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #11: Mr. Winky

Yes! We’re finally at Disney’s last package film and probably my personal favorite amongst them! Applause, people, applause!

Released in 1949, we have Disney’s 11th feature, “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”! The film is similar to “Fun and Fancy Free” in the fact that it only consists of 2 segments: “The Wind and the Willows” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. My Thoughts: SCOOBY-DOO! MUSIC OF THE VAMPIRE (2012)

scoobydoomusicvapireart1

Well, let’s start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Scooby-Doo and its franchise! I love the original TV series, I love most of the other TV series that followed it and are still following it, and I love the direct-to-DVD films. (What do I think of the live-action films? Well, I prefer the Brian Levant TV duology over the Raja Gosnell theatrical duology; but that’s not really saying much for either of them.)

And the focus of today’s review is one of the newer direct-to-DVD movies, “Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire”! Now if you’re like me, the first thing that comes to your mind is, “HEY! Wait a minute! They already made a direct-to-DVD Scooby-Doo film involving a vampire, ‘Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire’! How can they be so unoriginal and use the same type of supernatural creature again?! Are they telling us the same story again?!” Continue reading “My Thoughts: SCOOBY-DOO! MUSIC OF THE VAMPIRE (2012)”

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #10: The Ocean Buoys

Capture

Firstly, I want to apologize for not being as active on the blog as I used to be. I had final exams in college; but now they are done! So, I plan to spend more time on this blog working on this project and some other projects that I plan to do. So for now, let’s continue down our Forgotten/Minor Characters Project.

Next up is Disney’s 10th animated feature and 5th package film, “Melody Time”. Released in 1948, “Melody Time” is basically the exact same thing as “Make Mine Music” except with different shorts; so I won’t get into much detail explaining what it is. Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #10: The Ocean Buoys”

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #9: The Yawning Trees

When I started this project, I mentioned that the characters that I’d choose would be major, but forgotten; or minor and unmemorable; or just in the background and caught my attention. Today’s entry is mostly of the latter category. Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #9: The Yawning Trees”

40th Annie Awards Nominations Announced!

AnnieAwards-e1346092085139

Yes, the nominations for the 40th Annie Awards have been announced! The Annie Awards, for those of you who don’t know, are like the Academy Awards for animation. It’s probably the highest level of recognition that one in the animation industry can get! I may post the full list of categories and nominations later, but for now I’ll just list the nominations for Best Animated Feature: Continue reading “40th Annie Awards Nominations Announced!”

My Thoughts: THUMBELINA (1994)

DonBluthThumbelina

Let me just get it out there: I’m not a fan of Don Bluth and his films! None of his films ever captivated me like how a Disney film would and I consider some of his films to be quite bores. With that in mind, you can already get an idea of how I found his film, “Thumbelina” to be. Well, let’s dive in! Continue reading “My Thoughts: THUMBELINA (1994)”

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #8: Johnnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet

Next up is Disney’s 8th feature and 3rd package film, “Make Mine Music”. Released in 1946, the film is somewhat like “Fantasia” in that it’s a collection of unrelated shorts set to music. This time, most of the music is actually lyrical and popular (for the time, at least). And like I’ve said before, I actually prefer this film over “Fantasia”.

ANYWAY, this film is composed of 10 segments in its entirety. Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #8: Johnnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet”

Cate Blanchett in “Cinderella” Negotiations

Australian actress Cate Blanchett is apparently in talks to portray the evil stepmother in the Disney live-action reboot of “Cinderella.” Yes, Disney’s planning a live-action reboot of the classic 1950 film in the same manner as “Alice in Wonderland” and their upcoming “Maleficent.” The script is apparently being written by Chris Weitz.

Personally, I’m not a fan of re-imagining these animated masterpieces as live-action. I’m not saying that they’re bad; but if I had my way, I’d let Disney come up with new ideas for live-action films instead of feeding off their old hits of a different medium. Anyway, what do you think of this upcoming “Cinderella” reboot and what would your ideal casting be for it?
