Sigh…I really regret doing this Forgotten/Minor Characters project with Pixar films, not because it’s a task I find boring. On the contrary, it’s wonderful to re-watch these Pixar films as I’m personally a Disney fan, hence the Disney movies are the ones that I’ve seen over and over multiple times whereas most Pixar films I’ve only seen once or twice.
No, the reason I regret doing this project with the Pixar films is that it’s so hard finding forgotten/minor characters in these films. Pixar has mastered a way of creating a plethora of characters in their films while still making each character distinct, unique, and above all, memorable. This is an admirable quality except when you’re doing a project like this. But, that’s the way the cookie crumbles and the show must go on and (insert any other figure of speech/idiom/phrase that you deem fit).
Well, time for the first entry in my Pixar version of my Forgotten/Minor Characters Project and the first film we have to dive into is the classic, Toy Story.
Well, it’s time for yet ANOTHER “Top 13” list! Do celebrate!
Party pooper! Anyway, seeing as I did a “My Top 13 Animated Movies That I Don’t Like, But Everyone Else Does” list, it only makes sense to do a “My Top 13 Animated Movies That I Like, But Everyone Else Doesn’t” list!
Again, the ideas for these lists comes from Internet celebrity, Doug Walker, of “The Nostalgia Critic” fame!
Warning: He’s a bit foul-mouthed when he plays “The Nostalgia Critic”!
I know you’re excited to start reading, but like always, I have to give you a few cautionary notices first:
1) I find myself constantly going back and forth between favorites in lists. I may look back at this list in the future and wonder why my #5 was not in the #10 spot, or why my #12 was not in the #2 spot, or why my #3 was even on the list to begin with! But as of May 2013, this is my list!
2) When I say that these are films that I like, but everyone else doesn’t; who exactly are “everyone else”? Am I referring to the general public or to the critics or both? Well, in the last “Top 13” list, I took “everyone else” to mean both the general public AND the critics!
In this list however, I’m more inclined to say that “everyone else” may refer to both parties as well, but MORE towards the critics! The reason I say this is that I believe public opinion is so varied, that even a bad film can have a huge fan following! And I’m sure some of you will actually like some of the films that I’m about to list! But, these are all films that the critics are not happy about and a good chunk of the general public think are bad; and that’s the main reason why I say that “everyone else” doesn’t like these films!
3) How exactly am I ranking these movies? I’m ranking them purely on how much I like them and/or would want to re-watch. Films in the top 5 are movies that I love more and want to re-watch more than films in the 13th and 12th spots, for example!
Well, that’s about all I have to say before we venture into this “Top 13” list!
Pixar’s 14th animated feature, “Monsters University”, has shown itself to be an A-level movie and has opened at the #1 slot (as all the Pixar films have done) in the United States and Canada over the weekend! The prequel to “Monsters Inc.” earned a monstrous $82 million over the weekend, Pixar’s 2nd biggest opener ever (after “Toy Story 3”)! And to top it all off, the film has been receiving pretty much positive reviews!
Have you seen this movie? What did you think of it? If not, do you plan on seeing it? And if so, when? I personally haven’t seen it yet, but definitely plan to see it when it comes on DVD.
