Hello all,

You all have seen me host a game show before, but how am I at being a contestant on a game show? Check out my appearance on The Dis Quiz, a new online Disney-based game show, below!
The teaser trailer for Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, has debuted.
Can I just say that I LOVE the animation style of this film! It looks super stylized and unlike anything that Sony Pictures Animation has ever done before! This could be their magnum opus!
The film features the voice talents of Shameik Moore, Liev Schreiber, Mahershala Ali, and Brian Tyree Henry and is being directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey. The film is set to swing into theaters on December 14, 2018. What do you think of the trailer? Are you looking forward to the film?
The nominees for the upcoming 45th Annie Awards ceremony have been announced and you can see the full list of nominees by clicking here. Pixar’s Coco is in the lead with 13 nominations! A few of the interesting categories are as follows:
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie
Cars 3
Coco
Despicable Me 3
The Boss Baby
In This Corner of the World
Loving Vincent
Napping Princess
The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales
The Breadwinner
Dear Basketball
Hedgehog’s Home
Negative Space
Scavengers
Son of Jaguar
Nick Kroll (Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie)
Anthony Gonzalez (Coco)
Saara Chaudry (The Breadwinner)
Laara Sadiq (The Breadwinner)
Zach Galifianakis (The LEGO Batman Movie)
What do you all think of the nominees? I’m really surprised that The LEGO Batman Movie didn’t get a nomination for Best Animated Feature whilst The Boss Baby did! Also, was Zach Galifianakis’ voicework as the Joker really THAT good to warrant a Best Voice Acting nomination? Glad to see The Breadwinner, The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales, and Dear Basketball getting love though!
The teaser trailer for the upcoming Pixar film, The Incredibles 2, has debuted!
While it doesn’t reveal anything about the plot (as it is a teaser), it has gotten many people interested in the sequel. I personally am waiting for the first theatrical trailer to get excited.
The Incredibles 2 hits theaters on June 15, 2018.
5 YEARS! 5 YEARS! 5 YEARS!
Five years ago today, I started this blog, The Animation Commendation! Five years ago today, I joined the online fandom community of animation lovers! I’m sorry, I still can’t believe this news! The upcoming animated Disney Canon film that was set to be released in 2020, Gigantic, has now been shelved! Gigantic, a new musical take on Jack and the Beanstalk, was the upcoming animated Disney film that I was most looking forward to! It was being directed by Nathan Greno and Meg LeFauve and would have featured songs by the Lopezes of Frozen fame. It was supposed to be released earlier in 2018 before being pushed back to 2020. And now, it’s been totally shelved.
Sigh…is anyone else distraught over this news?
In 2011 and 2013, Sony Animation gave us two live-action films based on the Smurfs. Like many films of the same style, all the actors were live-action, but the main characters were animated. And like many of these kinds of films, they weren’t critical successes at all, but made money at the box office!
So when it came time to make a third film based on the Smurfs, they decided to make it a fully animated reboot pretty much ignoring that The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2 ever happened.

The result of that decision is Smurfs: The Lost Village. Read on to know what I thought of it! (Beware, there may be spoilers ahead!)

The teaser trailer for Sony Animation’s upcoming adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit stories has debuted.
While I never read the Peter Rabbit stories, I have a feeling that the stories are much more timeless than this teaser trailer seems to show. I really wish they had made this a fully animated film; this live-action/animated hybrid doesn’t seem to work especially with the whole “party theme”. If it turns out to be like Paddington (horrible teaser, but film was well-made), I’ll be happy, but until then, this is all we have to go on.
Peter Rabbit stars Domhnall Gleason, Sam Neill, and Rose Byrne, along with the voice talents of James Corden, Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley, and Elizabeth Debicki. The film is being directed by Will Gluck and set to hit theaters on February 9, 2018.
What do you think of this trailer? Does it turn you off from seeing the film?
The first trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming stop-motion animated film, Isle of Dogs, has debuted.
The film is about a young boy in Japan who goes in search of his dog who has been sent to a nearby “trash island” where all dogs are sentenced to go to due to overpopulation in the cities.
The story seems interesting enough and Wes Anderson is no stranger to animation having previously directed 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. Isle of Dogs features the voice talents of Edward Norton, Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig, Tilda Swinton, and Liev Schreiber, amongst others. The film is set to hit theaters on March 23, 2018.
What do you think of this trailer? Are you excited for the film?
