Hey all,

I just wanted you lovers of animation to know about a site that I love called Rotoscopers. It’s a site run by other animation fanatics wherein they post the latest news in animated films as well as provide animation-related podcasts and reviews. They also have a Youtube channel wherein they post animation-related video reviews and discussions.

It’s an incredible site and probably my favorite site for animation news because of its relatable content. It has wonderful, friendly people running the site and has an easy-to-maneuver website. If you’re an animation addict, please check them out at Rotoscopers.com.

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #50: Greno the Thug

tangled greno

Wow, 50 films in 71 years! I wonder if Walt Disney himself thought that his films would endure and be loved for this long.

As for the 50th film, you’d think that we’d get a good movie since it’s an important milestone…and you’d be thinking correctly. We get a very good movie entitled, “Tangled”. Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #50: Greno the Thug”

Official “Frozen” Trailer Released

We’ve FINALLY gotten a full-length theatrical trailer for Disney’s upcoming animated film to be added to their canon, “Frozen”. Yes, we had a teaser trailer before, but it didn’t show anything about the plot. So what do you all think about the trailer? And what do you think about the movie now that you’ve seen the trailer?

Personally, I’m not extremely impressed. It seems that much of the film is focusing on the journey taken by the characters Anna and Kristoff more than the actual plot and goings-on in the film. Then again, that’s just how it SEEMS to me.

I also am not sure what to think of Kristen Bell’s voice acting as Anna. And I’m really disappointed that we couldn’t hear Idina Menzel’s voice nor hear her sing one of the many songs in the trailer.

All in all, I’m skeptical about whether this film will be a hit or not. Nevertheless, I will DEFINITELY try to see it!

Note to self: Use Olaf’s “Worth Melting For” line on future wife; maybe she’ll like it.

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #49: The Reverend

When Disney announced that “Home on the Range” would be the last traditionally animated Disney Canon film, we were all horrified beyond belief!

See, even Culkin's horrified!
See? Even Culkin’s horrified!

Then after the acquisition of Pixar (and other factors), Disney decided to create another traditionally animated Disney Canon film and we were all ecstatic with immeasurable glee!

It never rains men, only money!

That film is none other than Disney’s 49th animated feature, “The Princess and the Frog”. Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #49: The Reverend”

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #48: Rhino’s Owner

bolt rhino's owner

We arrive at Disney’s 48th animated feature, “Bolt”. Released in 2008, the film was a bit of a hit and received much critical praise as well as positive reviews. And according to some people, this film was the start of a new age of Disney animation’s resurgence, a sort of “second Disney Renaissance”, if you will. The animation of this film and the future ones would improve dramatically from what the past films have been as would the quality of the films themselves. And this is a film that I myself quite enjoy! Yet, I have to admit that I consider this movie to be the most FORGETTABLE movie in the Disney Canon!

I still like it, but I really forget much of what happens in this movie after I see it, it’s right up there with “Dinosaur” in terms of “forgettability”! So what’s the story? Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #48: Rhino’s Owner”

Indexes

filecabinet_bl

Hey readers,

Just wanted to point out that I’ve, in the past week or so, put up a new page entitled “My Thoughts Index” (You can find the button at the top of the page). Basically it’s an alphabetical index of all the animated films that I’ve done a “My Thoughts” on. Hopefully, this will provide for easier searching for past reviews and a more organized site.

I also have the “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters Index” button at the top of the page, in case you’ve never noticed it before. There you can find all the movies of the Disney Canon in chronological order as well as find my forgotten/minor character posts that I’ve done for each film till date for my project.

Hope this helps keep things more organized!

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #47: The College Professor

We are at the 47th film in the animated Disney Canon, “Meet the Robinsons”. Released in 2007, the film wasn’t a huge mega-hit, and I guess it wasn’t really an embarrassing flop either. But in terms of Disney Canon quality, many people put this one pretty low on the list! And…yeah, it’s definitely no masterpiece, but I really enjoy this movie! Maybe, it’s the family element, maybe it’s the time travel element, maybe it’s the overall fun, I dunno!

Oh, let me talk about the film for those of you who haven’t seen it or have no idea what I’m talking about. Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #47: The College Professor”

Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #46: The Alien Cop

chicken little alien cop

So after Disney made the horrifying announcement that “Home on the Range” would be their last traditionally animated feature, we were anxiously waiting to see what their new fully CGI films would be like. And the first fully CGI film to be released was none other than “Chicken Little”.

Released in 2005, the film wasn’t a financial disappointment; but it definitely didn’t do that well with critics. A majority of people hates this movie or at least considers it to be amongst Disney’s weakest. I (as I’ve explained in an earlier post) actually enjoy this film. Sure, it’s stupid and the characters aren’t likable for the most part, but I just can’t help enjoying this movie every time I see it (which has been only twice, so far). So what’s the movie about? Continue reading “Disney Canon-Forgotten/Minor Characters #46: The Alien Cop”
