86th Academy Awards Review
Well, the Academy Awards are over and this year, I correctly predicted 14 winners instead of my usual 9! I feel so happy! The biggest surprise for me was “Mr. Hublot” winning Best Animated Short. I just can’t get over that!
You can see a list of winners here: http://oscar.go.com/nominees
What did you all think of the Oscars and its winners?
“Frozen” Shows No Sign Of Melting As It Passes The Billion Dollar Mark!
Yep, the beloved film, “Frozen” has accumulated a worldwide gross of over a billion dollars! It’s taken over “The Lion King” as the second highest-grossing animated film ever (not taking inflation into consideration, of course) after “Toy Story 3”. I, for one, didn’t think that this film would cross the billion dollar mark, but I’m glad it did! I feel happy that a film from the official Disney Canon has joined the ranks with the other 17 films that have made over a billion dollars worldwide!
My 86th Academy Awards Predictions!
Hello all, once again, it’s that time of year when the Oscars are only a week away and many film fanatics make their predictions about who will win. And I’m no exception, although I haven’t been all that successful. My record so far is 9 correct (out of like 30), and 30% ain’t bad, right?
So below you’ll find the list of the nominees as well as my predicted winners. The nominees that I think SHOULD win will be in red, the nominees that I think WILL win will be in blue, and if they’re the same, they’ll be both RED AND BLUE.
One last thing, I always leave the “Top 6” categories (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Animated Feature) for the end. Continue reading “My 86th Academy Awards Predictions!”
Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Dies At 46!
Wow, this one is just as shocking as when Paul Walker died (well, maybe slightly less so)!
Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has passed away at the age of 46 due to an apparent drug overdose! Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014) was known for his roles in films such as “Twister”, “The Big Lebowski”, “Patch Adams”, “Capote”, “Mission: Impossible III”, “Charlie Wilson’s War”, “Doubt”, “Moneyball”, “The Master”, and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”. 86th Academy Awards Nominations Announced!
Well, the day we (or at least I) have been waiting for has finally arrived: THE OSCARS NOMINATIONS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!!! Continue reading “86th Academy Awards Nominations Announced!”
Actor Peter O’Toole Dies at 81!
Actor Peter O’Toole has died at the age of 81! Peter O’Toole (1932-2013) was an amazing actor who sadly held the record for most Academy Award acting nominations without a win. His most famous role was that of T.E. Lawrence in the epic, “Lawrence of Arabia”.
Animation fans will also know him as the voice of Anton Ego in Pixar’s “Ratatouille”
as well as the voice of Sherlock Holmes in a few animated adaptations of the “Sherlock Holmes” stories.
He shall be missed.
My Thoughts: FRANKENWEENIE (2012)
Tim Burton movies are always…well, most of the time…enjoyable!

And this is no exception! It’s a wonderfully made stop-motion animated remake of an earlier short of the same name directed by Tim Burton.

The film received positive reviews, critical praise, and was even nominated for the “Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film”! And now, I have something very controversial to say! Continue reading “My Thoughts: FRANKENWEENIE (2012)”
