Pixar-Forgotten/Minor Characters #6: Snug

theincrediblessnug

Pixar’s The Incredibles has quite a devoted fanbase and probably rightly so. The 2004 hit film from Pixar isn’t my favorite, but it’s a wonderfully made film. The fanbase so loved it that a sequel has even been planned by Disney/Pixar in the coming years.

For those who don’t know, The Incredibles tells the story of a family of superheros who has to go into hiding after the world doesn’t feel safe with them around.

‘The Book of Life’ Opens In 3rd Place!

the-book-of-life-movie-wallpaper-2014

Reel FX’s latest animated film, The Book of Life, opened in 3rd place over the past weekend. The film (which features the voices of many stars such as Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, and Channing Tatum) grossed $17 million, which to my surprise was much less than what I thought it’d gross. But, it’s still early.

Did you see it? Did you like it? If you didn’t see it, do you plan to?

I definitely want to see it, although I’ll wait for it to come to DVD. I just can’t get over the fact that this colorful and creative film came from the same studios that made Free Birds!

My Thoughts: RIO 2 (2014)

Pixar Releases ‘Inside Out’ Teaser Trailer!

Here it is, folks: the first teaser trailer for Pixar’s upcoming film, Inside Out:

Wow, that was one of those teasers that brings a smile to your face! I’m anxious to see a non-teaser trailer of this film though!

For those who don’t know, Inside Out is about five emotions inside of a young girl: Joy, voiced by Amy Poehler, Anger, voiced by Lewis Black, Disgust, voiced by Mindy Kaling, Fear, voiced by Bill Hader, and Sadness, voiced by Phyllis Smith. The film is due to be released on June 19, 2015.

So, are y’all excited?

‘The Boxtrolls’ Opens At #3!

theboxtrolls

LAIKA’s latest offering (after Caroline and ParaNorman), The Boxtrolls, has opened up in the #3 spot in the weekend box office. The film about a boy who grows up with a bunch of trolls named the Boxtrolls, opened up with a $17 million gross in the US/Canada box office. Against a $60 million budget, the film may prove to be financially successful in the weeks to come. And with the reviews slightly leaning towards the positive side, that may happen sooner than later.

Have you seen the film? What did you think of it? If not, do you plan to see it?

Pixar-Forgotten/Minor Characters #4: The Lady with the Kids

monstersincladywithkids

Monsters, Inc. is my favorite Pixar film! I feel that the premise is super creative and nigh every aspect of the film is perfect!

Released in 2001, the film was about a fictional monster world in which the energy of the world was powered by human children’s screams. In the energy company, Monsters, Inc., trained scarer monsters would travel through scientifically advanced doors that allowed them to enter the human world and scare kids. The screams from the kids would generate power for the company and the monster world.

Pixar-Forgotten/Minor Characters #3: Mr. Konishi

konishi

Sigh…I really regret doing this Forgotten/Minor Characters project with Pixar films, not because it’s a task I find boring. On the contrary, it’s wonderful to re-watch these Pixar films as I’m personally a Disney fan, hence the Disney movies are the ones that I’ve seen over and over multiple times whereas most Pixar films I’ve only seen once or twice.

No, the reason I regret doing this project with the Pixar films is that it’s so hard finding forgotten/minor characters in these films. Pixar has mastered a way of creating a plethora of characters in their films while still making each character distinct, unique, and above all, memorable. This is an admirable quality except when you’re doing a project like this. But, that’s the way the cookie crumbles and the show must go on and (insert any other figure of speech/idiom/phrase that you deem fit).

‘Planes: Fire & Rescue’ Opens Up At #3!

planesfire&rescue

Whether you enjoyed last year’s Planes or not, Disney was adamant about making a sequel to it that they even planned the sequel’s release date before the original was even released!

And now, the sequel has been released and opened up at the #3 slot in the weekend box office. The film, which features our main character thrust into the world of fire and rescue missions, made a weekend gross of $18 million. With a budget of $50 million, the film could probably still make some sort of profit.

I’ll probably check the film out when it comes to DVD because it actually interests me more than the original, but not so much as to see it in the theaters. Also, Ed Harris is one of the voices and he’s always awesome!
