‘Penguins of Madagascar’ Doesn’t Fly Too High!

The-Penguins-of-Madagascar-1920x1080

Dreamworks Animation’s 3rd film of 2014, Penguins of Madagascar, opened in 2nd place in the weekend box office. Grossing a quite sub-par 5-day amount of $36 million, I wonder if the film will end up being even a minor hit.

Have you seen the film? If so, what did you think of it?

My Thoughts: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 (2014)

When How to Train Your Dragon was released in 2014, it was a huge hit! Both critics and the hoi polloi raved over it! I considered it my favorite Dreamworks Animation film at the time (later taken over by Rise of the Guardians)! So, as you can imagine, all of us (including myself) were awaiting this second installment in the trilogy.

My Thoughts: MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN (2014)

As a guy who’s never watched The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show nor had much previous knowledge about who Mr. Peabody and Sherman were, I wasn’t too interested in this film when I first heard about it. But, when character art started appearing online as well as the trailer, I became intrigued by the film and was anxious to see it. It actually was on my top 5 films I was most looking forward to in 2014! So, did I end up liking this film as much as I had hoped? Short answer: Yes.

“Mr. Peabody & Sherman” Owns 2nd Place In Weekend Box Office!

mr peabody and sherman

Dreamworks Animation’s latest film, “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”, has opened in the #2 spot in the US/Canada weekend box office. The film, based on a popular segment of “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show”, grossed a total of $32.5 million domestically.

I haven’t seen the film yet, but am really looking forward to see it because of the animation, the seemingly interesting plot, and the fact that Rob Minkoff (one of the directors of “The Lion King”) directed it.

My 86th Academy Awards Predictions!

oscars

Hello all, once again, it’s that time of year when the Oscars are only a week away and many film fanatics make their predictions about who will win. And I’m no exception, although I haven’t been all that successful. My record so far is 9 correct (out of like 30), and 30% ain’t bad, right?

So below you’ll find the list of the nominees as well as my predicted winners. The nominees that I think SHOULD win will be in red, the nominees that I think WILL win will be in blue, and if they’re the same, they’ll be both RED AND BLUE.

One last thing, I always leave the “Top 6” categories (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Animated Feature) for the end. Continue reading “My 86th Academy Awards Predictions!”

Upcoming Animated Films in 2014

2014

Well, 2013 is about to come to an end, so you know what that means!

"I think it means that it's time for us to look back at our year and see what progress we have made, learn from our mistakes, make amends for whatever wrongs we have committed, ..."

No, it means that I’m going on vacation!

"Huh...that was totally not what I was thinking!"
“Huh…that was totally not what I was thinking!”

Yep, I’m gonna be gone for about a week, so I thought that I should leave you all with something before I go. And what better thing to leave you with than a preview of what next year has to offer in animated films!

So sit back and relax while we take a look at the animated full-length theatrical films that shall be released next year complete with synopses (if available), trailers/posters (if available), and American release dates (if available). My Thoughts: TURBO (2013)

turbo

I don’t even know how to start talking about this film.

That’s a good idea! Ok, so “Turbo” is Dreamworks Animation’s 2nd animated film of 2013 (after “The Croods”). It’s about a snail who races in the Indy 500.
