Luca would be the second Pixar film after Soul that would debut on Disney+ rather than being released theatrically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Should this have been theatrically released though? Read on for my thoughts on the film!

So,that secret project from Lucasfilm that nobody knew about until like a month ago, Strange Magic, to nobody’s surprise, flopped at the weekend box office. The film opened up in 7th place grossing a mere $5.5 million, the WORST opening for an animated film that was shown in over 3000 locations! It’s a good thing Disney decided to release this through their Touchstone Pictures division.

I take a break from my…break…(ironic?)…to wrap up the year like I did last year: with a preview of the upcoming year’s animated films. Disney’s 54th film in their animated Canon, Big Hero 6, has proven to be a hero at the box office by not only topping the weekend box office, but becoming the 2nd highest opening weekend for an animated Disney film with $56 million!
