I take a break from my…break…(ironic?)…to wrap up the year like I did last year: with a preview of the upcoming year’s animated films. Below, you’ll find a list of all the animated movies scheduled to be theatrically released (in America) with their respective trailers/posters/images (if available) and brief descriptions.
Dreamworks Animation’s 3rd film of 2014, Penguins of Madagascar, opened in 2nd place in the weekend box office. Grossing a quite sub-par 5-day amount of $36 million, I wonder if the film will end up being even a minor hit.
Have you seen the film? If so, what did you think of it?
When How to Train Your Dragon was released in 2014, it was a huge hit! Both critics and the hoi polloi raved over it! I considered it my favorite Dreamworks Animation film at the time (later taken over by Rise of the Guardians)! So, as you can imagine, all of us (including myself) were awaiting this second installment in the trilogy.
So, the Academy has announced that 20 films are qualified as contenders to be nominated for the Best Animated Feature Academy Award in the upcoming 87th Academy Awards ceremony. Due to there being 20, 5 of these films will actually make the nominations list. Which 5 do you think should make the list?
Big Hero 6
The Book of Life
The Boxtrolls
Cheatin’
Giovanni’s Island
Henry and Me
The Hero of Color City
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart
Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return
The LEGO Movie
Minuscule – Valley of the Lost Ants
Mr. Peabody and Sherman
Penguins of Madagascar
The Pirate Fairy

Rio 2
Rocks in My Pockets
Song of the Sea
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
My picks are Big Hero 6, The LEGO Movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart, and Song of the Sea.
Well, 2013 is about to come to an end, so you know what that means!
“I think it means that it’s time for us to look back on this year and see what progress we have made, learn from our mistakes, make amends for whatever wrongs we have committed, …”
No, it means that I’m going on vacation!
“Huh…that was totally not what I was thinking!”
Yep, I’m gonna be gone for about a week, so I thought that I should leave you all with something before I go. And what better thing to leave you with than a preview of what next year has to offer in animated films!
So sit back and relax while we take a look at the animated full-length theatrical films that shall be released next year complete with synopses (if available), trailers/posters (if available), and American release dates (if available). I hope you all enjoy! Continue reading “Upcoming Animated Films in 2014”
I really enjoy making these, although they take forever to make; but the best things in life require the most effort!
The other three sides are “Luck”, “Gifts”, and “Inheritance”!
What’s the topic of today’s list? Well, you know how we all have that one movie or movies that everyone seems to love, like, or at least enjoy; but we just don’t like? Well, that’s the topic of this list!
Inspired by Doug Walker of “The Nostalgia Critic” fame,
A great film reviewer, although his character is a bit foulmouthed!
this is “My Top 13 Animated Movies That I Don’t Like, But Everyone Else Does”!
I find it an interesting subject and should lead to a fun list! But, a few cautions before we proceed:
1) I find myself switching back and forth between opinions as much as one changes clothes. So this is my list as of late February 2013. I’m sure I’ll look back at this list in a few months and wonder why my #8 wasn’t #4 or my #2 wasn’t #10 or something like that! So just keep that in mind!
2) What do I mean when I say that everyone else loves these movies? Am I referring to what critics think of the films? Or am I referring to what the average moviegoer thinks of the film? Well, I kinda take both into consideration. These are all films that critics have generally given positive reviews for and the vast majority of audiences have displayed their liking for.
and 3) Are these listed by how much I hate them? Not really! I don’t think I really HATE any of these movies, but many of them I do feel a certain level of dislike for! But, the main factor in ranking these movies is the question, “How soon would I re-watch this film?”. So basically movies near the bottom of the list I would more soon re-watch as opposed to movies near the top of the list.
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this “Top 13” list! Why top 13? Because I’m not superstitious!
Yes, the nominations for the 40th Annie Awards have been announced! The Annie Awards, for those of you who don’t know, are like the Academy Awards for animation. It’s probably the highest level of recognition that one in the animation industry can get! I may post the full list of categories and nominations later, but for now I’ll just list the nominations for Best Animated Feature: Continue reading “40th Annie Awards Nominations Announced!”
