Upcoming Animated Films in 2018

Once again, it’s time to take a look at what next year has to offer us in terms of theatrical animation! Many of us felt that 2017 wasn’t a great year for animation (at least, not for mainstream animation), so we’re hoping that 2018 can make up for it!

Check out my list below of the upcoming theatrical animated films set for release next year! Bear in mind that these are only the animated films with verified US/Canada release dates and that any and all dates are subject to change at any time. Enjoy!

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE

The Boss Baby

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE-INDEPENDENT

In This Corner of the World
Loving Vincent

The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales
The Breadwinner

Anthony Gonzalez (Coco)
Saara Chaudry (The Breadwinner)
Laara Sadiq (The Breadwinner)
Zach Galifianakis (The LEGO Batman Movie)

What do you all think of the nominees? I’m really surprised that The LEGO Batman Movie didn’t get a nomination for Best Animated Feature whilst The Boss Baby did! Also, was Zach Galifianakis’ voicework as the Joker really THAT good to warrant a Best Voice Acting nomination? Glad to see The Breadwinner, The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales, and Dear Basketball getting love though!

The Incredibles 2 hits theaters on June 15, 2018.

Comedian Don Rickles Dies at 90!

In news that I’m personally upset over, the comedian/actor, Don Rickles, has passed away at the age of 90! Mr. Rickles (1926-2017) was famously known as an “insult comic”, although he personally didn’t agree with that labeling of his work. He would have fun with everyone and get people to laugh at themselves regardless of cultures, colors, etc. Everybody loved him as his “insults” were never mean-spirited, but always in good fun!

Some movies that he appeared in include Casino, Kelly’s Heroes, The Rat Race, and Run Silent Run Deep. He also did a few animated roles such as voicing the dragon, Cornwall, in Quest for Camelot,

He’s the one on the right.

and his iconic role as Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story films.

I will greatly miss this man as I’m sure most others will too!

‘Coco’ Teaser Trailer Debuts!

The teaser trailer for Pixar’s upcoming film based on Día de Muertos, Coco, has debuted!

I’m really looking forward to it! The film does seem reminiscent of other animated films like The Book of Life and Kubo and the Two Strings, but it’s different enough to be its own thing. I love the animation, the characters, and just the overall feel of the movie! Even the dog with the weird tongue is endearing, lol!

Coco hits theaters on November 22, 2017. Are you looking forward to it?

My Thoughts: FINDING DORY (2016)

finding-dory

Pixar’s latest film is one that I honestly wasn’t dying to happen! I mean, I wasn’t against a Finding Nemo sequel, but I wouldn’t have been disappointed if we never got a sequel either! So like a true animation fan, I went to see Finding Dory with an open mind. What did I think of it? Well, read on to find out!
